LOS ANGELES, CA – On Thursday, July 10th, 2008, AArrow Advertising put a brand new spin on the meaning of job training by partnering with Los Angeles City College. Here, professional AArrow Sign Spinners attended the first of ten college level classes to work toward a certification in business skills recognized by the City of Los Angeles Workforce Investment Board, the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and the Los Angeles Community College District. Ten representatives from AArrow Advertising attended the first class and that number is expected to nearly triple by the program’s end. "On the first day of class with the AArrow Sign Spinners, I was thoroughly impressed and delighted to see how motivated, optimistic and determined they all are to become professionally educated in order to advance their careers within the organization,” Los Angeles City College Faculty and Instructional Director Devon Werble said. “Their attitude and appreciation for this opportunity is extremely impressive and very inspiring." This pilot program is expected to expand nationwide, and represents the first phase of customized entrepreneurial training. The second phase will focus on financial management, business and communication skills and the transfer of units to an accredited four year University. The goal is to provide a select group of managers with intensive entrepreneurial training through USC and Georgetown University on franchise ownership and operation. Los Angeles Community College District has served as an educator to more than three million students for the past 70 years.
